Dr Ian Watson: ‘See your doctor if you have a cough for 3 weeks or more’
December 27, 2019
If you’ve got a cough that won’t go away, sometimes that can be a concern. So don’t delay, make an appointment to go and see your GP and get it checked out. Often a cough that goes on for three weeks or more can be nothing serious, but sometimes it can be a symptom of lung disease or even sometimes lung cancer. So it’s worth getting it checked out, because we know if we can catch it early enough it’s much more treatable. I’d want any patient of mine with persistent symptoms that aren’t settling to come and see me. They really wouldn’t be wasting my time. So don’t delay, make an appointment to go and see your GP and get it checked out. Just don’t ignore it.
