Dr. Daniel Ardelean on Halitosis Treatment | Amber Dental | Sterling Heights, MI

Halitosis is is.. an umbrella term for different problems that can cause it. It’s really a symptom. Halitosis is bad breath, really. And so, because of that, we try to find what the cause is. Sometimes it’s the stomach. Sometimes it’s not just treated with something very easy or dentally related. Many times it could be acid reflux. Many times it could be a digestive problem. Sometimes it’s as easy as brushing your tongue, so we just provide a tongue scraper, or we tell the patient to make sure they’re brushing their tongue after after they brush their teeth. That’s an easy way to fix halitosis. But many times, that might not be the only thing. Sometimes it could be diet-related. Sometimes, like I said, it could be where you have other systemic problems. So, we try to work with the medical community, as well, with the primary physician, to send them and have them test to make sure that we can diagnose it properly.
