Amlodipine is a prescription medication used
to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina). Amlodipine belongs to a group of
drugs called calcium channel blockers, which help relax blood vessels. This makes it easier
for the heart to pump blood. This medication comes in tablet form and is
usually taken once a day, with or without food. Common side effects of amlodipine include
headache, swelling of legs or ankles, tiredness, and nausea.
