Question: How can I have challah on Shabat when Passover starts on a Saturday night?

Rabbi Elie Weinstock’s Answer:

You can have your challah and be free of chametz, too. Plan to have just the amount of challah needed to be eaten for your Friday and Saturday meals. I’d suggest just a few rolls. For example, make Kiddush, eat the challah, and then set the table for the meal (which will be Passover ready).

For Shabbat morning, all challah must be consumed by 10:40 am, so have a quick Kiddush and Hamotzi, and worry about lunch separately. Some synagogues, like ours, have breakfasts so you don’t have to worry about having bread crumbs in your house — which is another great reason to come to services this Shabat.
