Chanukah Pot-Latke Party
by Monita Buchwald
For a new spin on that holiday party, try a pot-luck latke party. You’ll spare yourself hours of preparation and wind up with a winning hand of tasty dishes to serve. Sound too good to be true? It’s this easy:
- Choose a menu that’s either meat or dairy. (We say go for the sour cream.)
- Make sure there’s something for the kids–and the adults.
- Assign each guest a dish based on their cooking skills. And let everyone improvise with their own recipes.
- On the day of the party, set a buffet table and keep it informal.
Sample Menu for a Dairy Party:
- Crudités and homemade baked potato chips with an onion sour cream dressing
- Bulgur wheat, lima bean and date salad
- Spinach-ricotta tart
- Macaroni and cheese casserole
- Poached salmon with dill sauce
- Potato pancakes with sour cream or apple sauce
- Zucchini latkes
- Sufganiyot (jelly donuts)
- Chanukah shaped butter cookies
- Green fruits in jasmine tea syrup

Thanks for a wonder site, however, all the Chanukah information would have been more appreciated prior to the actual celebration - not afterwards. Perhaps, next year.
Love the recipes, tips, hints, etc.
Again, Thank You.

Thanks for your comment and so glad you like the recipe. We did post this story before Chanukah, but next year–b’ezrat Hashem– we’ll be happy to give you even more of a head’s up. Thanks, Marisa
